Media Monday: Hispanic Radio and TV Personnel Fight for Better Pay & Ad Revenue

-- Spanish Language TV Journalists Paid Less

The San Francisco Chronicle reports on contract negotiations by studio employees at Spanish-language news station KDTV and points out that reporters and producers at Spanish-language TV stations across the country earn 25% less on average than their counterparts at English-languag stations.

-- Hispanic Radio Hits Rough Wave

The Washington Post reports that the economic downturn in the D.C. area, which has hit local Hispanic communities especially hard, has reduced ad revenue for Spanish-language stations.   

-- Film Shows Fight Over El Paso Conquistador Statue

PBS will air "The Last Conquistador" nationally on Tuesday evening .  The documentary, produced by Dallas station KERA, focuses on the battle that erupted among El Paso residents over a proposed statue of the Conquistador Onate.
